Dores fall to No. 20 LSU 41-7 in first appearance at home

The Commodore football team arrived at Vanderbilt Stadium on Saturday afternoon for its 2020 home debut.

Cheering from a Distance

Vanderbilt's attendance was limited to current students due to coronavirus precautions, but some familiar faces from Commodore national championship teams and notable alumni, were able to fill in the stands.

Dores Don Retro Helmets

The team wore black helmets with retro Vandy script accented with the Nashville skyline. Saturday's home opener marked the first of three games this season the Commodores will wear the vintage-inspired logo worn during the 1979-82 seasons.

The Star Walk looked a little different in 2020 without Commodore fans lining the sidewalk. Vanderbilt kept with its tradition of walking the anchor into the stadium prior to kickoff.

Only Students Allowed into Vanderbilt Stadium

Students were permitted to attend the game on a limited basis, while all other fans were restricted from attending due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

First Half: Dores Show Resilience

Trailing 14-0 at one point in the opening half, Vanderbilt showed resilience and fought hard, heading into intermission trailing 21-7.

Interception --> Touchdown

With nine minutes left in the first half, the Commodores picked off LSU quarterback Myles Brennan. The Vanderbilt offense was able to quickly move the ball down the field with junior tight end Ben Bresnahan scoring his first career touchdown on a third-down pass from Ken Seals.
