Vanderbilt fans came strong to the DoubleTree Hotel to bid the Commodores adieu.

While waiting out the rain, numerous Commodore head coaches gathered to support the VandyBoys and meet with fans at the pregame tailgate.

Former Commodore quarterback Jay Cutler was also in attendance Tuesday.

Hawkins Field Watch Party

In Nashville, fans filled Hawkins Field again to watch the VandyBoys, and mingle with new women's basketball head coach Shea Ralph.

Trying Again

Vanderbilt returned to the field for its warmups, only to be driven off the field again by more rain.

Waiting. Again.

Vanderbilt sat through another rain delay.

This one pushed the start time back 120 minutes setting the first pitch for 8:09 p.m.

To a standing ovation, the grounds crew removed the tarp.

Game On

Tied at 1-1

Mississippi State scored a two-out run in the bottom of the first with Vanderbilt returning the favor in the top of the second with a two-out tally to knot the game at 1-1.

CJ Rodriguez belted his first home run of the postseason into the Mississippi State bullpen in left.

Held at Bay

Vanderbilt, which trailed 5-1, put the first two batters of the fourth on base, but a fielder's choice and consecutive strikeouts kept it a four-run advantage for the Bulldogs.
