Commodores drop Halloween decision to Ole Miss at Vanderbilt Stadium

Beautiful Afternoon for Football

After a two-week break, the Commodores were able to take the field once again on sunny Halloween Saturday afternoon.

Set The Expectation Game

For the second consecutive season, the Vanderbilt football team held a “Set The Expectation” game. The event originated in June of 2019 when Brenda Tracy, a registered nurse from Portland, Oregon, shared with the football team her devastating personal story and vital message of preventing sexual violence.

During Saturday’s game, teal and purple stickers — teal represents sexual violence awareness and purple represents relationship violence awareness — were worn on Vandy’s helmets. Teal and purple ribbons were painted on the Vanderbilt Stadium field.

Warm Ups: Preparing for Battle

The Commodores took the field for their first matchup since their game against Missouri was postponed to December.

First Quarter: Dores Look for Momentum

Bresnahan Finds the End Zone

With 12:08 remaining in the second quarter, quarterback Ken Seals found tight end Ben Bresnahan, who ran 43 yards to the end zone for the Commodores' first touchdown of the afternoon. The catch was a career-long grab for Bresnahan.

Pierce Jr. Converts Late in First Half

With just under 30 seconds remaining in the first half, Seals connected with senior wide receiver Chris Pierce Jr. for a touchdown. The Commodores trailed the Rebels 33-14 at intermission.

Second Half: Dores Can't Catch Up

The Commodores stayed tough and fought hard in the second half, but could not catch up to the Rebels, who won 54-21.

Seals Keeps Growing

Seals finished with 319 yards on 31 of 40 passing. His 319 passing yards are the most by a true freshman Vandy quarterback in a single game since 2000 and his completion percentage of 77.5 was the eighth-best by a Commodore quarterback in a single game in program history.
